An Ordinary Meeting of the Parish Council

Held on Monday 10th April 2023

Beginning at 7.00 pm

07.01    Those Present.

07.02    Apologies for Absence.

None received.

07.03    Declarations of Interest.

None received.

07.04    Approval of the Minutes.

Resolved: That the Minutes of the last meeting, held on Monday 13th March 2023, be approved as a true record.

Proposed.    Seconded.    Carried unanimously.

07.05    Matters Arising.

None received.

07.06    Amendments to the Agenda by Resolution.

Monkey Challenge Play Equipment.

Resolved: That the Clerk contact Finding Fitness and obtain details of the process of purchasing a ten-foot Monkey Challenge.

Proposed.    Seconded.    Carried unanimously.

Pre-Insurance Questionnaire.

Resolved: That this item be dealt with at 19.e.

Proposed.    Seconded.    Carried unanimously.

07.07    ASTCO Clothing Bank.

Cllr Goodacre will produce posters to advertise bank.

An article will be put onto the Facebook Page. (Cllr Cheetham).

07.08    New Build Changing Rooms. Playing Field. Primary School and Parish Council.

The Council has contact Lincolnshire County Council for information concerning the status of the land in question. If it has been registered as Village Green land this would block any development of this sort. No reply has been received to date.

The Clerk will contact the Chairman of Governors for details of a Parish consultation in the near future.

07.09    New Signs for the Village Entrances.

The initial quotation was surprisingly expensive.

Cllr Goodacre is to obtain two further quotations for price / quality comparison.

07.10    E mail checking.

The Chairman reminded all Councillors that emails should be checked on a regular basis so that important issues are dealt with as quickly as possible.

08.11    Planning.

146439. The Knoll. High Street.

The Parish Council has no objections or comments to make and will support this application.

08.12    Highways Issues.

Speed limit reduction on the A57 as it passes Newton on Trent. (Cllr Arden).

Council is waiting for a reply from Cllr Butroid.

Remove from the Agenda until such time as more information becomes available.

08.13    Possible Future Events in the Community.

Remove from the Agenda.

08.14    Play Park.

a. Litter & Litter Bins. Acceptable.

The signs encouraging people to leave their litter in the bins provided have still not arrived. The Clerk will contact the supplier.

b. Other Issues. Cllr Spink has contacted a local company, EKM Ltd, who are able to repair items of play equipment as and when needed.

08.15    Health and Safety.

Play Park: No issues reported.

Playing Field: No issues reported.

08.16    Newton News.

a. Financial Statement.

Resolved. That the Financial Statement for March 2023 be approved as a true record.

Proposed.    Seconded.    Carried unanimously.

b. Clerk’s Salary and Expenses - £288.05.

Resolved. That the Clerk’s Salary & Expenses be approved for payment.

Proposed.   Seconded.    Carried unanimously.

c. Invoices for Payment.

HMRC PAYE - £48.40

Resolved. That the expenditure at 08.19.c be approved for payment.

Proposed.    Seconded.    Carried unanimously.

d. Insurance questionnaire. Councillors to read and bring suggestions for amendments to the next meeting.
